MMA in China - the NFL connection

Who know that there was an MMA promotion running small shows (about 6000 fans) in China? Or that former Heisman Trophy winner and NFL player Rashaan Salaam was promoting the event? Not me, that's for sure. But, apparently, Tom Shanahan from the Voice of San Diego knew all about it. He has written a nice article with the details.

Update 5/31: The article has a new URL http://voiceofsandiego.org/articles/2006/05/31/columnists/tom_shanahan/98shanahan.txt

  • I am the host ofFightOpinion Radio show and I blog here about mixed martial arts, Brazilian jiu jitsu and grappling (or whatever else catches my eye). I used to manage MMA fighters (including Renato “Babalu” Sobral, Justin Levens, Robert Emerson and Wander Braga). I also used to be the color commentator for the WEC, IFC and Shogun promotions. Plus, I have been an MMA reporter for many of the major MMA news sites (Sherdog.com, MMAweekly.com, ADCC News, Max Fighting and others).
