The decline of Vitor Belfort

Before Vitor Belfrot's loss to Alistair Overeem at last weekend's Strikeforce show, I briefly talked about the fact that his career has been a disappointement. Now MMA Weekly has posted an article going into great detail about Belfort's decline. It is a good summary for those who are not familiar with Belfort's career.

The only thing that bugs me about the article is the all caps headline, "IS VITOR BELFORT'S CAREER NEARING AN END?" While Mick Hammond, the author, informs the reader about the ups and downs of Belfort's career, he never even attempts to answer the question. There is no statement from Belfort on the subject, no opinion as to whether Belfort may stop fighting, nothing. There is only the conclusion that Vitor is "at a crossroads," and must start winning if he is going to revive his career.

In Hammond's defense, many times an editor and not the author will write the headline. But this is a pet peeve of mine. If MMA Weekly is going to write a headline asking whether this is the end of Belfort's MMA career, the least it could do would be to acutally addresses that question in the article.
