Shorter Vitor Belfort

Vitor Belfort plans to hand out 20,000 autographed sample selections from his forthcoming autobiography (he calls them "little books") to fans at his next fight, scheduled for Friday night at the Strikeforce show in San jose. The fight is a rematch against Alistair Overeem, who beat Belfort by Guillotine choke in Pride - Total Elimination 2005.

Talking about the first fight, Belfort said, "He fought good, man. I don’t like to give excuse, but I wasn’t there." If you ask me, that is as good a mini-autobiography of Belfort as you are ever going to find.

Belfort, a fighter of immense talent, could have been one of the greatest fighters of all time. But he has never been able to keep his head and heart in the fight game, and his career has suffered as a result.

About me

  • I am the host ofFightOpinion Radio show and I blog here about mixed martial arts, Brazilian jiu jitsu and grappling (or whatever else catches my eye). I used to manage MMA fighters (including Renato “Babalu” Sobral, Justin Levens, Robert Emerson and Wander Braga). I also used to be the color commentator for the WEC, IFC and Shogun promotions. Plus, I have been an MMA reporter for many of the major MMA news sites (Sherdog.com, MMAweekly.com, ADCC News, Max Fighting and others).
