The right kind of problem - are there enough good MMA fighters?
With the news that the UFC is on the verge of signing a deal with HBO, it plans to run eleven PPV events in 2007 and have up to 8 shows on Spike in 2007, MMA HQ raises a question that I have touched on before: Is the MMA talent pool deep enough to fill out all of the UFC's cards?
Of course, all problems are relative. This 'problem' beats the hell out of wondering what was going to happen to MMA after Senator John McCain got it banned from cable television, doesn't it?
After all, if the purses and the television exposure continue to increase, it is almost a guaranty that we will see plenty of quality fighters tyring their hands at MMA.

Yes, there are plenty of good MMA fighters. Of all the times in the history of the world to ask that question, I think this is the time when the answer is a resounding YES!! The new generation of fighters is so much more well rounded then any other generation. Look at the levels of competition even five years ago. It was not the same thing. The fights in the past few GP's have been lightyears more exciting, with countless more KO's and subs, than the 2000 GP. UFC to me is still sub-par, talent wise, compared to Pride and even Heros. There are plenty of good fighters out there in the world, many yet to be discovered, and their numbers will increase exponentially with the rise in popularity. BUT...UFC needs to tap foreign fighters more seriously if they want to be able to stock their cards with decent fights.
