Baroni "off" Wanderlei Silva vs. Chuck Liddell card
I guess it is hard to be off a card if you were never really on it, but . . .
When the UFC announced that Wanderlei Silva would fight Chuck Liddell in November (if Liddell beats Renato "Babalu" Sobral), Phil Baroni quickly announced that he would also represent Pride on the card. Well, it looks like Baroni spoke a bit prematurely since he has now told MMA Weekly that he will not fight that night.
Even though Baroni would not have been a "pure" Pride representative since he began his career in the UFC, it would have been nice to see him return to the octagon. However, if his rumored fight against Frank Shamrock comes through, that would do a lot to make up for the disappointment.
