White's spin control

A few weeks ago Dana White claimed the Wanderlei Silva vs. Chuck Liddel fight fell apart because of "problems in dealing with the Japan-based Pride Fighting Championships." Of course, that left the UFC looking really bad since White went into the Octogon and announced the fight without first having it signed.

So, after Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic knocked out Silva in the semi-finals of the Pride Open Weight GP, you knew this was coming:
It [a Silva vs. Liddel fight] kind of defeats the purpose now. The guy just got, literally, destroyed. They're (PRIDE) still saying we can do a fight in November. They can't do a fight in November. The athletic commission would put them on suspension for 90 days. The guy got knocked out cold. First, he got beaten to death, then he got knocked out cold. There's no way the guy could fight again in a month and a half. Plus, he just lost
Which of White's reason is the true reason there will not be a fight? Well, Silva would probably have trouble with the Athletic Commission allowing him to fight in November, so that much is true. But sadly, what looked like a triumph for the fans has turned to frustration, and both of White's reason sound like poor excuses for an embarassing mistake.
