MORE ON THE POSSIBLE LIDDELL FIGHT: MMA Weekly is reporting again that Chuck Liddell fill fight a non-title fight in UFC 40. They claim that Liddell, who has been promised that his next fight would be for the title, is willing to throw that out the window because he “loves to fight and wants to stay sharp.”

I am sorry, but I do not like this. Either Chuck and his management are making a bad decision, the UFC is unfairly pressuring him to fight, or both.

Liddell has already earned his title shot. In his last 6 fights, he has beaten Jeff Monson, Kevin Randleman, Guy Mezger, Murilo Bustamante, Amar Suloev and Vitor Belfort. He should not risk losing his shot at the title – which is long overdue – by taking another fight. This is especially true if the rumors are correct and the UFC plans to match him up against Evan Tanner.
