U.S. HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP FIGHT ADDED TO IFC WARRIORS CHALLENGE XVII: The International Fighting Championships (“IFC”) has announced that Paul Buentello will be fighting Rocky Batastini for the vacant IFC U.S. heavyweight championship in its July 12th card.

This fight is actually a rematch – Buentello defeated Batastini by arm-bar in the 2nd round of the IFC’s 8-man heavyweight tournament in 2000. I know that Buentello has improved a lot since that time – he has been training hard at American Kickboxing Academy in San Jose. But, he will be facing a whole different fighter when he comes up against a fresh Batastini. I am definitely looking forward to this match-up.

The show is taking place at Eagle Mountain Casino just outside Porterville, CA.

Tickets can be purchased at the casino, by visiting www. vallitix.com, by visiting a Vallitix location or by calling (800) 903-3353.

Following is the tale of the tape:
